Atwar has an Approximate of 45,000 Scenario Plays, this is how much percentage of those plays come from specific scenarios. This is an approximation: EDIT: extra information: Everything below 400 plays is in the "All other scenarios" section (including non-custom scenarios) Everything that is above 400 plays has its own individual section (Custom scenarios only)

I'm not implaying anything... just implying that the driving forces go way beyond something I would "just" subsume under "decency". What is a "decent scenario"? There are many elements that could be included in something like "decent scenario": balance (parties, reinforcement, income, cities distribution, accessibility of terrain, etc.) , attractive background, well drawn borders, appealing scenario environment (history), well elaborated units (not too much, but enough, specificity, units values, image, etc.), innovation, etc. ... all this could "objectively" define a "decent scenario". Is this enough for a scenario to be played a lot? No, it can only explain it partially. There are also "subjective" elements that makes scenarios appealing or not to the community. So rather than saying "Only the decent and lucky scenarios survive." I would rather say that only the enjoyable (for fun, SP or both) scenarios will be played a lot! (Source: HERE)

In my opinion, we shall not pose a standard, and to prohibit or to humiliate players from participating scenario game. Players log-in AW for fun. Why should we standardize the game-play? There are players who, after spending their time on scenario games at their first stage of the game, then participate in our so-called ''orthodox'' Europe and 3v3 games, and play well. They include Ferlucci, Zone and so on. I therefore see no contradiction between playing scenario games and the development of AW.

You are absolutely right. The only point I would discuss here is the term "decent map/scenario". There are objective and subjective issues. Objectively: Well drawn borders are superior to lazily drawn borders; new units that are well balanced and fulfill a specific purpose and have cool images are superior to units that are just randomly created; reinforcement, income and geographic accessibility can be well-planned or done without further reflections (the first being superior to the latter); balanced scenario sides and well-planned unit drops are superior to unit spam and not balanced scenario sides; etc. Subjectively: Players preference for playing a specific map/scenario; it is the ultimate driver that makes a map/scenario popular or not. Has some relation to the objective issues described above, but not exclusively.

Zone is an exception, he was born OP. We, Zone, Ferlucci, myself, etc. come from the Ancient map, not actually a scenario but a map. Anyway, it's not that easy. We learn our skills in ancient games but it has different game play and different possibilities so it takes some time to get used to Eu+. Although the basic skills (walling, tbing, money management, strategies, etc.) can be learned just the same. But not everyone ends up being able to be competitive, some just get lost in their way or give up.
