Question About Alts and Tournaments

As you know, the rules have been updated and alts cannot take part of tournaments. My problem is that my "alt" account is gonna be a higher rank than my main account in 1-2 weeks. Does that mean I have to use my lower rank "main" account with less upgrades to play or can I use my higher rank alt, because it represents the farthest I've gotten. Can I switch and call my "alt" account my main and call my "main" account my alt?
