How to Wall?

In many of the games that I've played, I've never been able to wall spam or wall around capitol cities well. Is there anyone who can help?

That gif is showing a rather time consuming way of walling, you'd get screwed over in low time games, or ones where your territory is large.
Use hotkeys.
When you open the units menu by clicking on a city, see the order of units.
Its militia, Infantry, tanks, blah blah blah
So press 1 to select a single militia, move it outside the city, then repeat 2 more times.
Press 2 to select and Infantry, 3 for a tank etc.

General/rare units found show up before all other units, so militia will become 2, and Infantry 3.
