Other ways for rare units

I was thinking that maybe the devs could implement a game option that allows "research" (IE spending money per turn until the rare unit is unlocked for building). Of course this should be designed for long games and made relatively expensive as to not be abused and units like afterwind would need to be a lot more expensivie than say ski infantry, but it could also allow creation of more futuristic units, or even to allow players to get a taste of them. So AtWar community, what do you think?

I like this idea, I would not get your hopes up it will ever be implemented. But it would be cool to see the rare units that are already a part of the game utilized in a better way.

... map makers can simulate R&D through "trigger cities" and "trigger units".

I am okay with the idea. I see nothing wrong with it.

Support, anything that adds more "complexity" to a game is good. A game can never be to complicated especially a war strategy game.
How ever I do think it's important for this to be a optional feature so it doesn't alter the current meta behind competitive games.

PS. There are many great I&S out there and none of them are making it into the game, I wonder if this sub-forum is even needed sometimes.

You have to remember, server maintenance isn't free, although I agree that non premiums should have a few more features (namely more maps, the default world one gets old) they have to pay for the site somehow.

You can play maps other than default even if non-premium, just join other people's games.
