I'm wondering if there are any ways to speed up things like splitting up troops or just selecting one unit out of a stack to build a wall quickly. Any advise?

Click on the units and slide it without repeatedly clicking, and try to be quick with the mouse. Thats how i do it. It will grant you time to look at your moves

You do need to strive to be fast even with simple commands like "move my unit" or something like that. in other words, move your mouse even faster like you're on something. I don't have any more advice than that. There's no button or upgrade that gives you speed.

Here is a HUGE tip. Double click the city. It will bring up the slider menu so you can move your troops faster.

There def needs to be an alt click slide option to move only 1 milita unit from city.

A-mazing! So much that I just repped you for that tip. I did not know this. Making walls is so much faster!
Or right-click, ctrl-click, shift-click or just anything-click would be awesome!

You can simply double-click a city to bring up the menu, then hit the numbers on the left and right sides to move one unit.

This was mentioned by Nike (see above). Here's another tip I found from watching a video of tophats playing a tourney final. When you click on a city, you can move units of one type by directly clicking on the unit icon. This is especially useful when you want to move units you have just built. ex.: I have marines and infantry in one city. To move the marines only (without the infantry): click on the city > click on marine icon > move marines.

No, Nike just mentioned double clicking the city to get to the sliders. I'm saying you can open up the slider menu, then click on the NUMBERS on left/right sides of the menu to move units, one at a time. Very useful to wall quickly.
