The current fog of war isnt realistic. How is it possible, that you can see around 3-4 thousands km's with a single unit? Or why can i see the exact number of units from every enemy? Why can germany see, that South Korea took a city in asia? My suggestion: Implement a new option "Total Fog of War" with the following changes: - Disable units count - Reduce view range - Switch all enemy units, who are out of view range to "invisible" - Fog of war for cities Regards Doctor

Or just partially black out anything that is outside of view range. and all units inside that are stealth.

- new ways to use tactics - exploration of maps - not even able to see enemy units out of range - really shocking surprise-moments ... 11/10 would play again

There a problem Let's say I am blitzkrieg. And I use airtran does this allow me to see the enemy cities or is cities look neutral when out of the enemy view range. Because showing which city is whom will defeat the purpose of the fog Note. If all city out of your view range have city that look neutral because you want to know where the city are or they just blacked out.

This is not the first time this is suggested. I don't remember where, but someone did asked the admins why the units had such big view range. Ivan replied something related to modern world. but also said it would'be useful in maps like ancient or Colonization.

I've been bugged by this myself. I notice that if I place a unit on a city that is out of range, I can see how many units the player has in it by subtracting one from the battle count. When I play casual and click play on the battle sequence, it seems odd that I am able to know exact troop movements half a continent away (and deduce the probable strategy being used. I also don't like that complete surprise attack with non-stealth units isn't possible. An event like the Pearl Harbor attack is completely impossible because the units would be seen move by move inching closer, even though no effort has to be made for detection. I guess you could say in the modern era tracking by satellite allows militaries to at least see something coming, but this problem applies to custom maps too. Even in world war two map, you can't do Pearl Harbor!

This would make satellites and recon planes actually useful.
