Personally I see these type of threads and any information about it cheating. Can the mods/admins delete it? What's your take on these "shortcuts"? Are they taking advantage of the maps or not?

I feel for the scenario editor who wants to make a river that land units can now cross :S But it's so much apart of the game mechanics, deleting it would utterly ruin gameplay imho

It's clearly abusing the game. I make maps, if I found a glitch in them I'd try my best to get rid of it or get rid of those who use it and inform other players of it......That's how every multiplayer game works. I'm 100% sure if I found an exploit in ancient world, Rome political, any ww1/2 map or any other map in this game, the exploit would be soon fixed or the creators of the map would muffle the spread of it. Just because "oh, but the "competitive" players like it" or "But it's so much apart of the game mechanics, deleting it would utterly ruin gameplay imho" It's not "part" of the game, it's an abusive glitch that is in the game.

Just delete the thread and fix the map. Is this game a strategy game? If so, then get rid of cheating the map and other players. EU is the default map for the competitive scene yet it has so many glitchs in it. Not good.

Agree... If there were 0 pixels of 'flexibility' units would get stuck or it would take forever to move them along a narrow strip of land/water only 2 or 3 pixels wide. i suspect developers gave units some flexibility to make them easier to move. So everyone is aware, this is an active topic being discussed by our developers right now so you will have a definitive answer shortly.

Yes, but you can choose to make it move in a new direction you like consistently and call it strategy. You can choose to have your knight explode every time a capture occurs and it will be strategy. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Atomic_chess ) For your information, some shortcuts actually exist in the real world. For example, what is known as the hamburg shortcut here is known as the kiel canal. The lakes in Sweden (vänern et cetera) do exist as well. The panama canal and suez canal are also (surprise!) real.

"you can choose to make it move in a new direction you like consistently"... that's because it's part of the game. Cutting across Cornwall is not part of this game. I am truly shocked that so many people say that wf is bad and cheating, then turn around and say "get a transport ship, put some wheels on it, then drive it through Scotland, Cornwall and any other part of the map" and say "gg, nice CW" while cheating the map and the other players. I can't take my knight and make it go straight, I can't take my king and make him jump three spaces.

... ...Or... it's a glitch and people are glitching and cheating. I can't take my king and move him three spaces... It's simple, fix the map, get rid of people spreading these glitches. Mods and admins: "We need to find away to keep new players and make them feel welcomed" Mods and admins: "Let's keep exploits and the ability to cheat in one of the most played maps in the game. And sure, let's advertise this publicly in the forums"

But you could take a king, make him consistently able to move him three spaces and call it a new variant of chess You could take a knight, make him able to move straight and call him a rook You could replace every single piece on the chessboard with rooks and it would still be part of a coherent game

Let's wait and see whether devs consider it intentional or not. It wouldn't be glitch, since it's consistent and reproducible for all players. The question is whether it's a bug or a game mechanic. If new players can't move their troops out of Istanbul without taking 3 minutes to move a stack, it wouldn't be much fun either.

Is chinese chess not just chess with every single piece given a new way they can move? I do not see what is wrong with chinese chess. What is wrong with jamming the arrow into the bullseye is that when everyone else does it there is no competition and everyone gets top place. If we were to introduce other factors such as running to the target it would turn into a competition of running, but it would be a competition anyway. If I take a chessboard with international chess pieces and agree with my opponent that all the pieces shall move like chinese chess pieces, the game will continue. I propose we do not allow jamming the arrow into the bullseye not because it is unfair, but because it would not demonstrate any semblance of skill. However, returning to the analogy of chess, if you were to agree with me that our queens can move 2 times a turn, it would be a game nonetheless. It would be fair and balanced. I am willing to play such a game. Just because something is not the way it originally was, does not mean that the new feature is an abuse of bugs.

Okay. Let's allow everyone to put an ace up their sleeve in poker, let's enable mod menus in an online Chess game, let us print tons of money and give it to the whole population of the world... Everyone would be rich, right? No. Let's unlock all unlockable items in this game to every player, everyone would be happy because everyone is on the same level, Right? No. Let's give every professional snooker player a device that shows where the ball will go, that would make it more interesting and more strategic, right? No....I could go on...it ruins the fun and gives it no value There needs to be written rules, especially in the competitive scene. Do you want this game to grow, yes? Okay, then get rid of exploits. Do you want new players to stay, yes? Okay, get rid of exploits. Do you want this game to be strategic, yes? Okay get rid of exploits. I could go on... I refuse to cross land with a boat. Not everyone knows about them exploits, it's not fair. "Just because something is not the way it originally was, does not mean that the new feature is an abuse of bugs." I'm not going to jump into a online EU4 game and cut across Scotland and say, "Ah well sure, if everyone can do it, therefore it's not considered a glitch on the map" or jump into a Battlefield game and say "Well if I can use a glitch to fling me across the map to get near a flag, and everyone can use it...that doesn't make it a glitch" If people on this game hate farming, wallfucking and alts, then hate glitchers and abusers. And that's that.

You may not cross land passages with ships but you can reverse couple of patches and take both Aragon and Naples as The Knights for 0% warscore. EU4 is not a perfect game. You can exploit any glitch or bug you want, both in mp and sp. Just pick a patch and you're good to go. Also comparing Atwar and EU4 is mental.. And your reasoning is kinda bla. You wanna remove something thats probably part of atwar gameplay since its creation just because not everyone knows it. Threads exist for this reason. Was it a glitch when it was created? Probably. Was it accepted by apparently 99.99% of the players and admins as part of gameplay? Yes.

This is ridiculous! Okay, so can I farm now? Serious question, am I allowed to do it? It was part of the game since the start. Let me do it. Again, if farming, wf and alts are not allowed then glitching shouldn't be either. Also I'm not comparing EU4 to atwar, I'm comparing the problem.

Glitching isnt allowed, everyone who abuses any bug, with definite proof, should be perma banned. Also let me explain you this in words you can quite easily understand, i hope. When it was created, i dont think it was intended for players to have ability to pass thru some land passages with ships. So yes, you can say it was a glitch. But it was accepted from both community and creators of this game as part of gameplay. From that moment on, it wasnt considered a glitch anymore. Would you be more pleased if admins removed that at the time and then put it back on as a legitimate patch update? I dont get it.. Also my advice to you is to stop making random threads to start debates or flame wars because it seems like you're getting out of ideas..

-_- I'm not "making" flame wars, I'm interested in what people have to say about certain issues. And this issue is important, I don't see this as part of the gameplay and we have a new admin in charge, so this topic should be noticed. Mods and admins enabling cheating is not a good image. Everyone: "Get this game on steam" Admins: "we need to fix the game first" Yet allowing glitches to pass through. Do you have any proof that 99.99% of the community accept it? Or is it just the players that CW and are high levels?

And people said it in posts above. You dont have to see this as part of the gameplay. If you dont want to use it, just dont. And you can call it glitch as much as you want, it still doesnt change the fact thats part of the gameplay and that its not considered a glitch. My proof is that this is first time i see complaining thread or thoughts about land 'shortcuts' in my 5 years of playing atwar, simple as that.. Anyways, i'm done arguing with you. You're clearly stubborn/troll/or you're getting kick out of this. I said what i have to say, if you're so confident that this should be changed, take it to the admin and present both sides, and see what answer is he going to give.

In my opinion its reasonable for a player to express their opinion for a part of the game especially since we now have a new admin even if deepfried isn't expressing their opinions in the most coherent of ways, but i also think this is such a integral part of the game id prefer not to have it removed, also if anyone doesn't know how to do it the knowledge for it is 1 forum search away. It will be interesting to hear the current admins opinion on this.
