People are talking about marketing so I figured it might be a helpful excersise to have a think about how some of us started playing the game and even how and why some of us stopped. This is pretty simple: Tell us when and how you first heard about AW. Tell us why you kept playing and tell us what it was about premium that made you buy it. And how long did it take you to splash the cash? Plus anything else you can think of that made you enjoy the game The whole point is to go back to the roots of the game so that we can think in terms of ways to increase the player base. Dave might find this helpful. But its also a chance to reminisce

Greetings & Salutations, I found Atwar while looking for an online strategy war game like Risk. I kept playing because I truly enjoy the strategy and diversity of the game and the fact that it is, to me, the next evolution of Risk, but on steroids. I bought premium within the first 6 mos. to a year, don't really remember specifically when. But I purchased premium because I wanted to create maps to play on, something I truly enjoyed doing during my years of playing AD&D. And I also wanted to be able to play any map or scenario I wanted to, and that is what really clinched it for me. I got a lifetime because, for me any of the other options was going to be a complete waste of money. Now I am really glad I got lifetime, particularly since Dave has stated he has no intention of changing those memberships, even though he removed the option to purchase it. Thanks Dave. Anyways that's it in a nutshell. Respectfully, WM Dak

I typed in risk like strategy game, I got bullied by learster in my first game and was abducted by forever alone by rank 4. I was getting tired of comp when I decided to buy premium so I'd be allowed to cw more and I was interested in map making.

Erepublik comprised competeting nations and erepublik Israel had 24/7 active IRC channel at the time. We used to spend hours there just to hang on and afterwind (early version of atwar) was extremley group-friendly and fun at the time so we played together every day.

Searched for strategy games like risk and ended up here. Didnt really get into it at first, then after a month i played again and this time i saw maps other then world. Then i got hooked. I played maps like got political and ww1. I liked it because of the community and some scenario maps. I bought prem after 1.5 years of play because of prem bonuses. Im not really into map-making because its really hard to understand it , takes lot of time.

I first heard about the game in 2013 through some friends and I really enjoyed it initially I kept playing because I enjoyed the idea of custom scenarios and at the time the map making community was vibrant and there was a lot of cool scenarios being released at the time, another thing was competitive as well, I enjoyed it a lot but I started playing competitive less and less since I became a dedicated map maker What made me buy premium was obviously the ability to create custom maps, and I didn't get it premium until about a year after I first started on atwar, even if my maps weren't popular I enjoyed making maps and adding new content

Used to play hyperiums which was a strategy game but very slow paced , till one day some of em told me to try risk and i ended up here trying it with them, im the only one that continued to play here after a few months they all just stayed in hyperiums or retired . Im into strategy games so this game really caught my atention especialy the scenario maps since i always played strategy games like warcraft 2 and 3 , age of empire , lotr etc so seeing a online risk game where ppl made scenarios etc got me hooked fast. i never tried premium or found it that op till one day when i was like rank 10 or more i noticed how much time i had spent playing here so decided to buy lifetime , after that i learned its true powa!

Found it on kongregate.com I had originaly started playing it early 2014 with guest accounts then came back late 2014 to see that it changed to Html which i found to be more attractive. Played for 3 months using guests to abuse the free 3 day premium thing. Then they stopped doing it so i made this account. and just like that i was born! the 4nic! It was still tied with kongregate so i had to ask sun tzu at some point to cut the connection from kong to aw and give my account a personal password. I kept playing because of the friends and that i wanted to become the best ever like no one ever was. I never bought premium, had only got a few seperate packs cause some friends donated their spare proto coins 3 years ago, sascha bought fullprem for me 2 years ago while we were in mystics, such a nice guy hope he becomes a mod.

I was looking for the game Risk, a game I played a lot with my brother and friends in my childhood. Finally I found AtWar. Once I started in AtWar, there are now more than 4 years, I immediately stop the search for the game Risk. So much this game exceeds it in all the fields. No part is like another, that's what makes it so strong, there are so many possibilities with all the cards created and waiting, the strategies, the parameters, that it is not possible to weary. I buy the prime after 10 months of intensive games, to be able to create my own coalition and enjoy this game 100% and especially to support it. I love this game and I hope it will live a long time.

I found atwar when searching for a fast paced risk game because I always loved war simulations and being able to take part of historical battles and scenarios, so after going through some guest accounts, I made my account on December 31 2016. I bought lifetime about a year later mostly for the gen.

I had this friend in 2012/13 who had this weird collection of games. Every kind of indie game you could think of he played. He introduced me to it and I actually hated it at first because I was that guy screaming in help chat that I couldn't move my troops haha. But then I learned! And I met some really cool people that's really what made me stay. Making a couple friends on here made me look forward to each game. Then learning how to really play. Not just walling, but not range failing, tbs, expansions, and every time I got better the game got harder because I played someone stronger and stronger. I bought monthly prem a couple years ago, then ivan gifted me lifetime. <3 I bought a couple friends prem too bc I felt bad I love this place and tho I have no idea where my friend from 7th grade is, this was one of the best gifts ive ever received!

1. I got interested on geopolitical simulation games and I couldn't find a decent one. Since I wanted to simulate reunification of 1800's THE GREAT COLOMBIA , I saw a comment on Colombiaball fb page in 2014 mentioning this game and well, it wasn't what I looked for but it was fun for me, so I stayed. 2. I took a break of some months then I returned because of boredness with a new account and I met Dozer in a world game and we are bffs since then. I was in Hispanic Alliance and had some friends there so I didn't want to quit again. 3. Months after I got interested on cws and EU 3v3 games so I asked Dozer to join Immortals, he said sure, then I joined and practiced. Dozer and Sid gave me the protocoins to buy Lifetime. Anyway I was planning to buy it by myself within 1 year but god sent me those angels

Plus anything else you can think of that made you enjoy the game 1.a friend invited me to play against him because he wanted to kick my ass off, then we started doing whole world games with 5-10 friends and i turned out to be very good (relativly to them) 2.i kept playing because it was a nice game that you can play for 2 hours in a row and still have fun, and thats why my friends kept playing too 3.i got my premium because i wanted to be even with other players and have the same options as they do, atwar is really premium-ist. it took quite long, till i got to high ranks and played only with premium players. other than that atwar is fun because of the clans and the unbeliveable amout of different maps and scenarios about (almost) literally everything.

We played the game as a family. ( the board game risk) me, my brothers, my mom and dad. my dad is the one that found the game. we have all since grown and moved away, but its cool because we can still play from afar. we dont have to have the board set up in another room and hope the cat dont fuck shit up. and my brothers cant cheat and add men or move them around when no one is looking.
