Chat auto scrolling

Probably posted the last one in the wrong forum topic, so here's a repost:

Alright so, there's this really annoying thing when you want to find someone under the chatbox to pm him/rep/add etc... the chatbox scrolls down to the bottom immediately after someone writes something. I lost my nerves trying to pm someone who wasn't on my friend's list . It is REALLY annoying. Is there a way to prevent this somehow?

Not that I know of. Maybe an option should be implemented such as "Lock Box" or something.

How about instead of a lock box , it just doesn't scroll down when there is a new message.

What if you don't know his name?
And it wasn't meant only for messaging, but also interracting with them like add/ignore/rep...

If the chat didn't scroll down each post that would be much more of a nuisance.

OKay how about... if chat is scrolled to bottom = scroll down each new post

if chat has been scroll up =/= do not scroll down to new post

So if you dont scroll up the chat to look for soemthign soemone said then chat will continue scrolling down showing new comments, but if you do scroll up chat knows you looking for soemthing already said and wont scroll you down
