Do not generalize. The State is a category whose elements can take some radically different forms.

Ask a social-democrat and a Stalinist radical what the State should be like and I guarantee you that you will get two answers that are as different from each other as social democracy is from anarchism.

Not to mention, there are no examples of the horrors of anarchy because anarchy is inherently unstable in any populous society.

People cry over gold and money, but the greatest property one can own is other people, and there are always men who seek to gain this property. Nature abhors a vacuum. Human society abhors anarchic power vacuums.

Not so sure Anarchy is inherently unstable. It would be easy enough to test... give the Anarchists one small place in the world to call 'home' and see what happens. The problem is, this would never be allowed - not because it is inherently unstable, but because, as you suggest, owning other people is superior property. Since this is not the case in anarchist society, the source of the instability originates in those compelled to 'own' other people.

i like the Robert Higgs quote, except there's no monkeys in it.
