I dont understand the battles. Even the help button didnt make sense as it says if tank attacks infantry it does 6 but tanks attack is 8.
Please explain in laymans (simply) how it works.
Does it make a diff If I engage or not as sometimes seems random who attacks who.
I want to know so I can look at unit lists and see what beats what etc.
ty in advance

If a tank has a max. attack of 8. That means during a battle it will roll between 1-8 damage. same thing with defense. an infantry of 6 defense will roll between 1-6. Also, a unit's attack affects to defenders units' HP not defense. And the defender's units' defense will affect the attackers units's HP.

HP is also a factor though i dont know the exact statistics but HP make your units a lil bit faster

HP makes units stronger. not faster. In Iron fist the units are harder to kill.

HP = hit points. In most strategies most units have the HP of 7. It means that if your opponent's attack roll is 7, one of your units dies.

Yes it is based upon luck a little bit. I was in a game with Vagineer (I think) and I sent one transport vs Vag' two transports. He was also using IF and somehow... my transport won. I do believe that was the luckiest battle in Afterwind existence.
