It cought me off guard didn't know it was out. No. I actually don't care for it anymore

Do I have to watch the first one before this one?

First avatar was good.

But both of them mostly appeal to low IQ middle aged white woman and children <12 years old. I definitely enjoyed the original avatar when I was a kid. I suspect this new one will be so much worse, as are almost all 2020s movies.

The only good movie in 2023 will be Dune 2

I don't know why Hollywood thinks its a good idea to sacrifice good script writing and good plot in the name of production quality. If you want a good avatar movie check out avatar the last air bender
