Always the same problem. you want to create a new country, which adjoins on an other country. so you have to draw the exactly border again(thats hard work). in my opinion, i would find a new button awesome, that follow the shortest existing connection between the start and end point

I tried to find a solution, but i think, that the third and more countries would be the problem.
so secound try. what about this?

if 2 points (of a straight line) touch the same country, the straight line will be replace by a copy of the shortest connection with the lines from country 1
