So i was playing a very long game, one that lasted about 8 hours, and i was doing very well in, i was making about $5K earch turn than all of a sudden my ally had taken over half of my countries while still being my ally. i don't see how this is possible. i have noticed sever times weird and "funny" things happen when I or people in my coalition play against someone from the Semper Fi coalition. if you could look into it and fix it, or explain to me how they're able to do this i would appreciate it, because wasting 8 hours on a game for it to glitch against you cause you to lose and go into debt 70K dollars worth is a game that i consider not playing. i'm not saying that members of semper fi are cheating just maybe not playing to the games "standards" playing favorable in some "opening".

Okay, this has happened to me, and I have to say I have done this too. There is a way to take cities and countries controlled by allies. You do this only if they have absolutely no units in a city. This feature was put into the game in order to allow people who take the cap or their allies from an enemy to give it back. Sadly, it is being abused... The only way to make sure this doesn't happened is to make sure you have at least 1 unit in every city.

I am 99% sure i did. i was the china/asia area and he took my stuff, also it wouldn't let me take my capital back from him when he had zero units in it. and i was attacking with 5 light armored tanks. it put the "ally" sign up and wouldn't let me take it back. is there a way that you can make it to where you can always take back your capital, whether you're allied/peace. i mean it's your capital you should be able to do so with no problem. right?

I'm pretty sure he broke the alliance right after taking those empty cities from you. In that case you won't be able to take them back, even if they're empty. At the moment, there's no way to take back your capital when you're allied or in peace.

I attack alli citys all the time when there empty and i always get them. I too was in that game of tanks and not only did funy stuff hapen to you buy also i had them droping and rejoining to look at the map. and every time i nocked out a player they would respawn and blitz me. And then take the biggest cash countrys, drop back out rejoin load it up with 100 troops then drop out again, over and over useing the free view of the map as a blatenet abuse of the game. i also had 2 subs kill 45infentry in britton becasue i had transports there? he attacked me and i had those troops in the cap there from early in the game.

So I just got out of a game that had this same "Taking Friendly Cities" bug and I wrote a new topic without reading this first. (Sorry about that btw...)

So this is still a great feature, its a way to get back your capital when your ally helps you take it from the enemy, but now, its being used to attack your own ally when least expected. I was just in a Europe game and everything was going great and then suddenly half my cities are my ally's color. When I tried to attack him back, it said we were still allied.

So i'm thinking... Maybe a system should be put in place that both parties have to agree before an ally can take an abandoned city? Like, at the beginning of a turn, it will ask "this-person as moved troops into and would like to take this city: YES/NO"

It would still allow you to take back your capital after an ally has helped you take it from enemy, and it would prevent backstabbing allies from backstabbing you.

You guys are all too naive. Have you ever tried the peace button? It means that you and your NAP partner can't attack each other which includes abandoned cities, and you don't reveal the positions of your stealth units. And all of a sudden you don't have problems with this "bug" anymore. Alternatively you can just leave one militia in each city if you expect your ally to turn his back on you. But then I wouldn't ally him in the first place.

Seriously, the only "bug" is in the heads of the people who wildly ally each other without considering the sacrifices they are making at the same time.

Actually, I have tried the peace button. It works quite well. Now do you want us to give up all hope of having alliances and just peace people? I'm pretty sure just using the peace button more often wont solve the problem. As long as there are alliances in this game, there is going to be the problem of people exploiting the bug and using it to back stab your ally.

Also, allies shouldn't be able to take your cities without consent in the first place. There is a reason why it takes two turns to declare war on your ally...So they cant come and back stab you. This bug totally overrides those 2 turns. I leave some of my cities empty because I know that is my ally wanted to attack me, I would have 2 turns to prepare for anything.

It's not a bug. It's plain naivity if you abandon your cities, so that a potential backstabber can capture them easily. There are two ways to avoid it: place at least one single militia in each city. Or don't ally a person you don't trust. Simple.

And yes, I personally would like to see alliances less inflationary as is currently the case.

This isn't a bug.. this is totally intentional. I remember the discussions about how great it would be if an ally could take an empty city from another ally so that way they could save each other's cap.

There has always been deceptive diplomacy in this game. I bet at one time or another, you have all had an ally who was bargaining with your enemy to get you taken out of the game. Many players here will ally with you, just so that they can betray you when you leave your border unguarded because there is an 'ally' there.

I'm gonna go with Prom on this one... for the price of 1 militia in each city, you could have safe guarded yourself from this type of treachery (I use the term treachery as it is a much more appropriate term than 'bug'). Or, better yet, don't ally everyone and their grandma, and she won't have as many opportunities to stab you in the back

I have to agree with Sific on this one. I actually had a guy once try to kill me just because I allied with everyone... I did kinda learn a lesson there.
