Both the Soviet Union and the US wanted to keep their influence. If the Soviets agreed maybe most of the riots wouldn't have happened, they still could've, but it would've lessen the chances. Also, it wasn't only USSR, but whole Warsaw Pact that sent tanks into Czechoslovakia. They didn't invade when czechoslovaks protested, but when Prague government enacted liberalizion reforms. Student protests were result of WP invasion, not the cause.

Don't get too ahead of yourself, I still find the Americans and the USA to be a hypocritical and lacking country, with an even-lacking society

I'm all for the punitive bombings in Syria because of the Chemical weapons usage, what I disapprove is the fact that US, France and the UK didn't even wait for an investigation to take place and to assess whether it was Syria who did it or any other part involved in the conflict, and that's fishy. What I also find surprisingly depressing is how UK and France intervene, they are the 2 most guilty countries of what happened and is happening in the middle east, especially in syria, after the Sykes-Picot border agreement.

When it comes to the general intervention in the conflict, I'm against. Foreign and different cultures, mindsets and political regimes cannot impose or be imposed other ways of life, political systems and regimes. Democracy can't be exported and peeps need to understand sometimes one country and society is better-off with a dictator ruling with an iron fist, some cultures are just not developed enough for democracy and pluralism
